Undergraduate-led, in both tracks
Who can submit
All first authors must be undergraduate students. If a paper has multiple co-first authors, every co-first author must be an undergraduate student.
CURML 2027 invites papers led by undergraduate researchers in machine learning. The first-author requirement applies to both the Proceedings and Presentations tracks.
Rigor over novelty.
We emphasize downstream applications and efficiency. We welcome research that investigates what machine learning can do in practice and how it can do more with fewer resources.
Make it useful.
Applications, evaluations, and empirical studies that examine machine learning in meaningful settings.
Make it efficient.
Studies of computational cost, memory, data use, and the trade-offs between resources and performance.
Novelty is not a hard requirement. Scientific soundness and rigor are essential. A careful study with well-supported conclusions can be valuable without introducing a new method.
Two submission tracks
Proceedings
For work submitted for consideration in the archival proceedings track. Publication arrangements and detailed track requirements will be announced.
Presentations
For work submitted for presentation without archival publication through this track. Presentation formats and detailed track requirements will be announced.
Build a strong submission
As you prepare your work, make the scientific reasoning easy to follow:
- State a clear research question and explain why it matters.
- Describe methods, data, and experimental settings in enough detail to understand the study.
- Use appropriate comparisons and evaluation measures.
- Support conclusions with evidence and discuss limitations.
- For efficiency claims, explain the resources measured and any performance trade-offs.
These are preparation guidelines. Formal formatting and submission requirements are still to be announced.
